So, I’ve been back at University for one full week, already dealt with a small electrical fire, pumped out more than 7,000 words (of 4,500 required) and taught some youngsters how to tackled that tricky old InDesign programme. But guess what, after the eight-hour, 400-mile journey that my folks and I made over a week ago… I have a fortnight off!

2008 is probably not going to go down as one of Nintendo’s best years. At least, not in the eyes of those going by the label of “core gamer”. While the Wii and DS sell like the proverbial hotcakes, two very casual releases (Wii Fit and Music), a lackluster E3 and no big Christmas hitter saw the company coming under fire from the hardcore elites.

With Amy and me opening up the 200-mile gap that frequently splits us for hopefully the last time, I found myself in that now annual tradition of the misty-eyed haze where I reflect on the passing year and wonder what the heck the next 365 days have in store for me. It’s a bit later than planned, and it’s going to be a melodramatic post, as I type in the words “biggest year of my life so far”.
