So, yeah, with the exception of Monday’s 24 recap I haven’t matched the previous week’s post count at all. The reason is simple enough, I’m knackered.
To be honest, it’s a feeling that’s been fairly consistent for a few years now and I’ve just been ignoring it. Trouble is it’s now got a lot worse, with me almost snoozing in my lectures and having zero concentration, and what with it being my final year and all it’s something I could do without. Went to the doctors on Tuesday and have got …

The clock is ticking, and we’re approaching those dangerous hours where there’s a good chance of this season’s 24 slowing down. Not so with Hour 9 of Day 7, as while the action is not as emphatic as it were in the early hours of the day there’s still a good dose of tension, even if it is a little predictable in places.
Jack and Renee’s partnership is steadily growing into something deeper, as her humanity seems to be touching Jack in ways I’m sure he didn’t see coming. But that’s …

So Nintendo have confirmed the final launch details for their latest version of the stormingly-successful DS in North America, Australia and, most relevant to me, Europe. Since the system’s announcement I’ve been mostly skeptical about what it offers and whether it will be worth the hefty price tag I anticipated. Such a price tag appeared the other day at £149.99. But now it appears that UK retailer GAME is offering a half-price trade-in deal. Hand over your DS Lite, Wii, PS3 or 360, and you can see the price of …

Just a little something from the news today which I found utterly ridiculous. The Daily Mail have published a story of a psychologist claiming that Facebook can raise the risk of cancer. Now, for those not in the loop, the Daily Mail has built its reputation as the uptight, out-of-its-mind voice of Middle England. It’s stories can be homophobic, xenophobic or euphobic (a fear of good news), but all of them can be totally out of their mind.
It’s rare for me to do this, but since the story read so …

It’s 3pm and Jack makes his first ever visit to the White House. Seriously. He’s been pally (or not-so pally) with most of the White House administration over the years, but is only now getting to poke his head through the West Wing. Although the top secret entrance which Jack and Co use may not be in the West Wing – I don’t exactly have blue prints for that sort of thing.
In the next 60 minutes, it’s all about the race to rescue the First Gent. Well, all about rescuing …

As the mile-wide posters scattered along the route from home to Sunderland reminded me a few weeks ago, “Jack’s back!” America’s most hard-worked special agent has returned to screens after an 18-month absence and I’ve finally had a chance to catch up. And this is the part where I say, “Spoilers. And lots of ‘em.”
Following the largely unimpressive sixth day in Jack’s increasingly knackering life, it was with some reservations that I stepped into the first hour of yet another long, long shift. It picks up a few months after …

It was with a somewhat heavy heart yesterday that I started reading through the Audit Bureau of Circulation’s (ABC) figures for June to December of last year. As the saying goes there are lies, damn lies and pie charts, but there could be no denying that for magazine publishers, those working in the industry and anyone wishing to find a print-based job come June/July, the numbers could make for grim reading.
Bauer Media, publishers of Total Film, Arena, Q and Zoo were looking at a drop of 8.5% year-on-year; NatMag saw …

It’s Monday, and if I’m ever going to get into this two posts a week routine, I need to strike while the iron is hot. Right now, I am in my Arts & Entertainments Journalism module (read: reviewing) and have just cracked out a 400-word music review of a daft electronica artist that I’ve never heard of and don’t wish to hear of ever again.
His name is Minotaur Shock, the EP is titled Rockpoolin’ and my overall verdict is that I’d rather chew off my own feet than listen to …

As highlighted in my last entry, the best laid plans of mice and men will frequently turn to crap. Such has been the case for the vast majority of this week, as the seemingly never-ending saga of my laptop continues. I had planned a couple of jolly old posts for this week, but the continuing incompetence of PC World means I’m venting this week and that’s it. Basically, you get to find out why I’m so inactive around these parts and find out just how piss-poor PC World are.
First off, …

Anyone who viewed the comments for my post from almost two weeks ago will have noticed an overwhelming lack of confidence in my ability to complete any of the tasks which I had set myself for my 14-day mini-break between semesters. Anyone who made those pessimistic comments will now be wearing a smug grin and patting themselves on the back as, to no-one’s surprise at all, my to-do list still has plenty of unchecked boxes.
