Who says GDC is just for the developers, huh? Ever year, whoever is speaking at the annual conference, one group of gaming fans will be on the edge of their seats for the big announcements from their camp. For Nintendo fans, Iwata’s first GDC keynote since 2006 was a reason to get a little bit excited.
Of course, not too excited, what with the Big N’s E3 slip-up back in July causing many fans to be that bit more wary of these events. Thankfully GDC didn’t disappoint. Although Mario remained tucked …

Bill died. Nothing else matters anymore.

Okay so that’s a little bit melodramatic, but last week’s 24 saw the first big death of Day Seven. A heroic sacrifice leaves Jack in prime position to hunt down Jon Voight, but boy will I miss Mr Buchanan.
Looking more like someone’s grandfather this season than he has before, it was hard not to feel Jack’s pain as he sat beside Bill’s charred body  and showed Renee that yes, things do get to him.
The FBI raid was continually held up by the dumbass VP until …

Call of Duty 4 was the big winner at tonight’s Video Game BAFTAs, scooping three gongs out of the six it was nominated for.
Alongside the GAME Award of 2008 prize – the only one voted for by the general public – CoD4: Modern Warfare took the Story & Character and Gameplay titles.
The next biggest winner was Dead Space, which took both the audio categories – Use of Audio and Best Original Score.
The biggest loser of the night was, without doubt, Grand Theft Auto IV. Despite shifting 13 million copies since …

Skip the previouslies, these episodes and blogs are just minutes apart in theory. Some of us had to wait a day for the Internet to provide a reasonable stream. Did I say that out loud…?
Right, well before the authorities come down on me for copyright breach and all that melarkey let’s get down to business. Juma and his men have drilled their way right into the White House sewers. Nice. A helpful caretaker lets them through and they begin stalking the White House, taking down lots and lots of Secret …

24/11 – The calm before the storm
Worried that the 24 night arc was going to be a quiet affair? It certainly doesn’t look like it as last week’s double-episode really stepped things up a notch. We’ll start with Hour 11. We know there’s going to be an attack. We know it’s going to be at the White House. The trouble is… No one else knows this.
Dubaku is lying in his hospital bed, but not for long. A shifty looking orderly slips something in his drip, causing heart failure and Renee …

Although my gaming childhood was a bit late for the NES, in my later years with the pursuit I have done what any good gamer does and looked back at the history of the company that brought him much pleasure, and the games that I could have enjoyed had I popped straight from the womb with a NES pad in hand. Alongside the standard Ninty favourites of Zelda, Mario and Metroid were a few third party titles. One such title was A Boy and His Blob. The game has the …

For those that worry about this sort of thing, the blood results are in! All normal. Or to quote the doctor, “Spot on.” Nice to know my blood is as spot on as it was last year. And the year before. And the year before…
So where does that leave me? Well, it leaves me having to go to the sleep specialists. Perfect, right? Wrong. 12 month waiting list. I might not even be here in Sunderland in 12 months. So, it’s time for Plan B. I be an absolute bastard …

Previously on 24, Jack and Renee were being dragged into custody after Slippery Sean issued a warrant for their arrest. Erica’s tracked this down, which surely means he’s in troub-… Wait, no, she’s in on it too. Guess there’s no such thing as too obvious in 24. She gets a whole lot of face time in this episode as she and Sean try to destroy Dubaku’s list, which the fleeing terrorist had kept on his person rather literally.
After forgiving Marika for betraying him, the pair were on the road to …
