Con Ab 6.0 – What’s happening?

Phew, it’s been a fair old while since my last posts. Literally months have passed and chapters of my life have come to a very definite end. New ones have yet to be written as job hunting continues to be fruitless – with a first class degree not proving to be the golden ticket many may think it to be. This blog, however, could go someway towards the next chapter.
Since my last post, I have been considering taking Constantly Abbreviated to bigger and better things. When I was hit with …

Call of Duty 4 was the big winner at tonight’s Video Game BAFTAs, scooping three gongs out of the six it was nominated for.
Alongside the GAME Award of 2008 prize – the only one voted for by the general public – CoD4: Modern Warfare took the Story & Character and Gameplay titles.
The next biggest winner was Dead Space, which took both the audio categories – Use of Audio and Best Original Score.
The biggest loser of the night was, without doubt, Grand Theft Auto IV. Despite shifting 13 million copies since …

For those that worry about this sort of thing, the blood results are in! All normal. Or to quote the doctor, “Spot on.” Nice to know my blood is as spot on as it was last year. And the year before. And the year before…
So where does that leave me? Well, it leaves me having to go to the sleep specialists. Perfect, right? Wrong. 12 month waiting list. I might not even be here in Sunderland in 12 months. So, it’s time for Plan B. I be an absolute bastard …

So, yeah, with the exception of Monday’s 24 recap I haven’t matched the previous week’s post count at all. The reason is simple enough, I’m knackered.
To be honest, it’s a feeling that’s been fairly consistent for a few years now and I’ve just been ignoring it. Trouble is it’s now got a lot worse, with me almost snoozing in my lectures and having zero concentration, and what with it being my final year and all it’s something I could do without. Went to the doctors on Tuesday and have got …

Just a little something from the news today which I found utterly ridiculous. The Daily Mail have published a story of a psychologist claiming that Facebook can raise the risk of cancer. Now, for those not in the loop, the Daily Mail has built its reputation as the uptight, out-of-its-mind voice of Middle England. It’s stories can be homophobic, xenophobic or euphobic (a fear of good news), but all of them can be totally out of their mind.
It’s rare for me to do this, but since the story read so …

Anyone who viewed the comments for my post from almost two weeks ago will have noticed an overwhelming lack of confidence in my ability to complete any of the tasks which I had set myself for my 14-day mini-break between semesters. Anyone who made those pessimistic comments will now be wearing a smug grin and patting themselves on the back as, to no-one’s surprise at all, my to-do list still has plenty of unchecked boxes.

So, I’ve been back at University for one full week, already dealt with a small electrical fire, pumped out more than 7,000 words (of 4,500 required) and taught some youngsters how to tackled that tricky old InDesign programme. But guess what, after the eight-hour, 400-mile journey that my folks and I made over a week ago… I have a fortnight off!
Whoever decided that we wouldn’t want a five-week Christmas holiday (easily achievable if we just started a week earlier) is a numpty. However, it does provide me with an interesting …

Anyone who tuned into constantly-abbreviated.com over the past six months will have noticed a ridiculously tiddly post count from yours truly, with the few posts that were present being piss-poor excuses and promises to “post again real soon”.
Well, as is now customary since I first came up with the idea of ConAb back in Easter of 2004, a New Year means a new start for the project and more high hopes which I expect to be brought brutally back down to earth by January 4th…
