Brazil 1-0 England: Match Report

I’ve gone a little mad this week and decided to scrawl together a match report based on the England match last night. Scribbled together with pen and paper last night, I’ve just finished typing it up. I’m hoping it’s not bad for a first attempt…
A second-half header by Nilmar saw an unfamiliar England line-up lose their friendly against Brazil 1-0 in the Qatari heat.
With an injury list which had been growing right up to the last minute with Michael Carrick picking up an ankle injury, Capello’s starting eleven of second …

Spirit Tracks brings Spirit Pipes

The latest addition to the Legend of Zelda series, Spirit Tracks, is almost a month away and though Nintendo had kept most of the game’s secrets under wraps since the playable demo at E3, the news has been coming thick and fast over the last couple of days.
A new trailer last week revealed a whole host of secrets including the origins of the mysterious Phantoms that would help Link on his quest, why our usually green-garbed hero is sporting that natty little train driver’s outfit and, most importantly, the villain …

Nintendo announce FOURTH DS incarnation

Only a few days ago I addressed the success which Nintendo had been having with their dual-screened handheld in recent years. The system has attracted a lot of people to the gaming who wouldn’t have touched it with a twelve-foot pole several years ago, never mind a three inch stylus.
Well, the times they are a-changing, and the DS has sold over 100 million units in it’s short life, with three different forms. Now, there’s a new one which goes against the previous two reinventions where everything was physically scaled back …

PS3 slims down to beef up sales

In a move which would surprise absolutely no-one at all, Sony yesterday unveiled the long-rumoured PlayStation 3 Slim.
Though it had been widely predicted by the gaming press for over a year, and become a hot tip for this year’s E3, Sony waited until the start of the Cologne GamesCom convention to make the latest iteration of their high-definition console known.
Available worldwide from the first week in September, the new model will boast the same features as the current PlayStation 3, but weigh in 33 per cent smaller and 36 per …

Con Ab 6.0 – What’s happening?

Phew, it’s been a fair old while since my last posts. Literally months have passed and chapters of my life have come to a very definite end. New ones have yet to be written as job hunting continues to be fruitless – with a first class degree not proving to be the golden ticket many may think it to be. This blog, however, could go someway towards the next chapter.
Since my last post, I have been considering taking Constantly Abbreviated to bigger and better things. When I was hit with …

I handed in my last degree assignments yesterday, took part in my final exam and have just one more portfolio of work to print off before I officially bring three years of University living to a close. Expect a blogging burst in the next few days, as well as a liveblog Twitterfest on Tuesday to mark Nintendo’s E3 press conference.
Coming shortly, my predictions for that conference.

Deary me, just look at the dates between this post and the last. More than a month. What the hell have I been doing?

Oh, right. 56-page magazine from the ground up.

That’s officially out the way today as it’s sent off to the printers – complete with any typos which I may have missed during four exhausting proof-readings. (I nearly cried last night when I saw “Donky Kong”, just as I finished exporting what I was confident would be the final PDF.)

The end result has really pleased me, and I really …

Just a little something from the news today which I found utterly ridiculous. The Daily Mail have published a story of a psychologist claiming that Facebook can raise the risk of cancer. Now, for those not in the loop, the Daily Mail has built its reputation as the uptight, out-of-its-mind voice of Middle England. It’s stories can be homophobic, xenophobic or euphobic (a fear of good news), but all of them can be totally out of their mind.
It’s rare for me to do this, but since the story read so …

Anyone who tuned into constantly-abbreviated.com over the past six months will have noticed a ridiculously tiddly post count from yours truly, with the few posts that were present being piss-poor excuses and promises to “post again real soon”.
Well, as is now customary since I first came up with the idea of ConAb back in Easter of 2004, a New Year means a new start for the project and more high hopes which I expect to be brought brutally back down to earth by January 4th…
